At around 3:00 a.m. on September 16, a potential freezer fire was stopped before it could escalate when Security Guard Sevidal opened the walk-in freezer to assist drivers picking up supplies. What seemed like typical cold vapor soon turned into a concerning build-up of heavy smoke. Despite switching off the circuit breakers and bringing in a fan, the smoke persisted, carrying the alarming smell of burning material.
Refusing to leave his post with a potential hazard lingering, SG Sevidal remained vigilant alongside warehouse helper Martin Lloyd Padriguela. Together, they combed through stacks of palletized potato fries in the dark, dense room. Their persistence paid off when they discovered embers quietly spreading beneath the cartons—caused by electrical sparks from a damaged ceiling fan. Acting quickly, they unstacked the damaged boxes and doused the flames with water, completely putting out the hidden fire before ending their shift.
Client representatives expressed deep gratitude for the swift, proactive intervention, emphasizing how daily safety inspections and constant alertness prevented catastrophic losses for the facility.
This incident is a prime example of Operational Excellence, one of LINKED Group’s core values. Operational Excellence goes beyond merely performing assigned duties or following routine protocols; it is about taking total ownership, maintaining unwavering vigilance, and executing proactive problem-solving under pressure. By taking initiative and refusing to abandon his post until the threat was fully neutralized, SG Sevidal ensured that a destructive freezer fire was stopped, protecting client assets, ensuring workplace safety, and embodying the standard of reliability that LINKED Group stands for every single day.
