2024 Quick Facts
- BFP recorded 18,217 fire incidents nationwide, an 11.2% rise from 16,387 in 2023.
- There were 338 fire-related deaths, a 5.8% increase from 320 in 2023. Injuries also rose to 1,332, up from 1,047 the previous year.
- Property damage was estimated at ₱13.83 billion, a 5.1% increase from ₱13.15 billion in 2023.
Tips to Protect Lives & Property
- Check Electrical Wires – Faulty or overloaded wiring is a leading cause of fire.
- Unplug Appliances When Not in Use – Prevent overheating and electrical sparks.
- Store Flammable Materials Properly – Keep away from heat sources.
- Avoid Open Flames Indoors – Identify exits and conduct regular fire drills.
- Have a Fire Escape Plan – Use candles and gas stoves responsibly.
- Keep Fire Extinguishers Ready – Learn how to use them properly.
